On 1st December 2020 Aneliya Kirilova, a social worker with 25 years experience, opened her own shop called “Made with love” in Pernik. It is not an average shop - this is a place where children with disabilities and their parents can exhibit their artwork and sell them to cover a small part of the medical treatments expenses.
The idea was born after she was forced to stay at home due to health problems, but her desire to create art couldn’t be tamed. During this period art had served her as a therapy and a way to avoid unwanted thoughts. So, she contacted the Union of the Disabled in Bulgaria to find out that she is not alone in her new hobby.
This is how she connects with the artists and little by little creates a community that is built on love for art and mutual everyday challenges. Ever since the shop opened, its shelves have been occupied by the works of 50 artists with disabilities who find hope and motivation to develop their talent thanks to what Aneliya has created.
Alas, soon after that Aneliya realises that they are going to need help for the materials if they want to continue creating quality art. Even some of their ateliers would need a certain amount of investment. Do you want to show them that it is worth it?
How can I help?
After contacting all of the artists, Aneliya has established a list of the needed materials. They are going to be very thankful if you can send the materials on your behalf. According to your capabilities, you can choose something from the following list:
- Canvases - different sizes
- Brushes - all numbers
- Acrylic, oil, or textile paints
- Coloured real leather - white, yellow, green, blue, red, purple, pink - small scraps
- Colourless varnish, glue C-200
- Semi-precious stone beads
- Linen panama, burlap fabric, ribbons (burlap or any other - shirring, lace)
- Fabrics - rhinestones, fleece, plush, velvet
- Silicone down for filling
- Scandinavian moss
- Silicone sticks, silicone guns
- Self-drying clay
- Craft materials
- Decoupage mats
- Photo frames - all sizes
- White clay, spatulas and ceramic stains
- Materials for quilling
- Yarn for knitting - crochet, acrylic and cotton with acrylic
The everyday life of children with disabilities and their parents is often challenging. Art cannot only help them with their mental health, but also give them hope that their hard work would be appreciated and their artworks would be noticed. Moreover, this is very beneficial for them since they would gather some money for their medical expenses.
How can my donation reach the artists?
